Trip Pass

One person pays, eight benefit

  1. Create the trip and invite the crew

The invite link costs nothing and has no participant limit. The whole crew sets up profiles, enters licences and allergies, and the kitty is up and running — all on the free plan.

  2. Buy the pass when you need the extras

That usually happens during meal planning or the cabin argument. It doesn't matter who buys the pass — the skipper, the cook or the crew member with the strongest urge to organise.

  3. Everyone has access immediately

The unlock applies to the whole trip and every crew member. Whoever paid can then add the €14.99 to the kitty as an expense with one click and split it between everyone.

What doesn't exist yet

  • Planned

    Customer management for organisations

Recognise past participants and analyse them across seasons. Today an organisation manages boats, skippers and templates — participants only within each trip.

  • Planned

    Organisation-wide data export

All organisation data as CSV or Excel. The kitty settlement can already be exported per trip today.

No forced subscription

The Trip Pass is a one-off payment. Nothing renews, nothing needs cancelling. You only get a subscription if you explicitly choose one.

Servers in Germany

The app, the database, the sign-in service and your files are held on a server in Germany. For AI features, payment and map tiles, Anthropic, Stripe and OpenStreetMap are involved as well — set out in the privacy policy. No reselling, no ad trackers.

Your data belongs to you

Export the kitty and crew lists as CSV at any time — on the free plan too. For uploaded photos and documents, keep your own copies: they exist with us only once, without an additional backup.

Pricing FAQ

Questions about pricing and billing

Yes. The free plan has no expiry date, no trip limit and no crew limit. We don't ask for payment details when you sign up. Here's how the maths is meant to work: through the invite link, a trip brings us further crew members who get to know Sailto — that's our marketing, and free organising is the price we're happy to pay for it.

Yes. As a consumer you have a fourteen-day right of withdrawal from the conclusion of the contract for the Trip Pass, Plus and the organisation plans, without giving reasons — an informal email is enough. The full withdrawal policy with a model form is on a page of its own. When you buy, we ask whether you want us to unlock the features immediately; if you agree and confirm that this means losing your right of withdrawal, it lapses early. Without that consent you keep the full fourteen days.

Because the sailing season in German-speaking countries runs from April to October and most crews do one or two trips a year. A monthly subscription would be cancelled after every trip — annoying for you, unreliable for us. The pass fits how people actually use it: you pay when you sail.

No, and that's the most important point. The pass belongs to the trip, not to a person. As soon as anyone in the crew buys it, the features are unlocked for everyone — including members who join later. With eight people, that's €1.87 each.

Yes. Whoever paid for the pass is asked straight afterwards whether the €14.99 should be booked to the kitty as an expense and split across the crew. One click, and the amount is part of the settle-up just like diesel or harbour fees.

50 for the whole trip, shared by the whole crew — the meal planner and the cruising area info draw from the same pot. There's no daily limit: you can use them all in one evening or spread them over two weeks. Why a limit at all? Every AI request costs us computing time that we pay for. Promising unlimited use for a one-off payment of €14.99 would be either dishonest or unsustainable — we'd rather state the number. The narrated trip recap is included in up to three versions; it runs on a much larger model and costs correspondingly more. With Plus, the same 50 requests apply — but fresh for every trip.

In the first year, from your second trip: two passes cost €29.98, Plus costs €24.99 and covers as many trips as you like. From the second year it is €4.00 a month, so €48.00 a year — then it pays off from your fourth trip. If you sail once a year, the pass is cheaper; we'd rather say that clearly than push you into a subscription you don't need.

Yes, and it renews monthly at €4.00. Plus has an initial term of twelve months at the introductory price of €24.99. After that it continues indefinitely and is billed monthly at €4.00 — so the second year costs more than the first. In exchange you are never committed for more than a month: cancel at any time in the customer portal, with no notice period and without emailing support; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and there is no refund. The organisation plans follow the same pattern — Org Crew €25.00, Org Fleet €50.00 a month. The Trip Pass never renews — it is a one-off payment.

Yes. Plus belongs to your account, not to the trip. So you see the extras even if you were only invited as a crew member. That doesn't unlock them for the rest of the crew, though — for that you need the Trip Pass or an organisation.

Yes. From the logbook, Sailto generates a sea miles confirmation as a PDF — for each person individually, with all legs, the harbours visited, the total miles and the share sailed at night. It includes the vessel's name, type, length overall, flag and propulsion, plus a signature field for the skipper. Date of birth, address and the certificate of competence number are deliberately left blank and filled in by hand — they belong to the person, not the trip. The export is part of the Trip Pass. If you sail as a flotilla, the log only counts the legs of the boat the person was actually on.

Through the customer portal in your account settings — two clicks, without emailing support and without a notice period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: everything stays usable until then, and there is no refund. In the first year that is the remainder of the twelve months; after that it is at most one month. The account then falls back to the free plan — your trips, kitties and lists are kept in full and remain readable.

Get in touch. For registered sailing clubs and non-profit youth organisations we can almost always find a solution — just write to support@sailto.app, ideally with a word on how many boats and skippers you have.

Nothing is deleted. An expired Plus or organisation subscription returns the account to the free plan. All trips, expenses, lists and logbook entries remain fully visible and exportable — only the pass features are no longer active. Trip Passes you've already bought stay valid for their trip for good.

We back up the database regularly. Uploaded files — photos, documents, receipts and profile pictures — are currently not backed up separately; they exist once, on our server. So keep your own copies of anything that matters to you. Sailto is an organising tool, not a photo archive. We'd rather say so upfront.

Org Crew at €249 for the first year (incl. VAT) covers up to 5 skippers and 15 boats, including unlimited trips and all pass features. With eight training weeks per season that's around €31 per trip — regardless of how many participants come along. From the second year it is billed monthly at €25.00, so €300 a year. If you need more skippers or want to analyse utilisation statistics, choose Org Fleet at €599 for the first year and €50.00 a month after that.

Yes. All prices on this page are final prices and include statutory VAT. Every payment automatically generates a receipt that you can download from the customer portal. If your club or company needs an invoice with specific details, just drop us a line — we'll set it up.
